I completely agree, especially the “stay connected socially” bit. In my experience, talking to other people are the best way to tell the difference between a great idea whose time has come, and a “solution in search of a problem”.
I find Story Telling is a good way to leverage that social validation of ideas:
While Pauling did some great work, he did get stuck in the end on a bad idea (vitamin C as an all-powerful cure). He wasted too much of his life in a dead-end.
Of course, he achieved more in a small fraction of his life than I ever will in my entire life… but he could have done much more.

I always liked this quote attributed to two-time Nobel Laureate Linus Pauling: “The best way to have a good idea is to have a lot of ideas”.
