MathML is supported better than “poorly” as it works in Firefox and Internet Explorer with my company’s free MathPlayer plugin (http://www.dessci.com/mathplayer). Doesn’t work in Safari or Opera, though.
Ajax deserves more than a casual mention in your courses. I’d devote at least 1/3 of the course to developing an appreciation of what is it all about. I’ve only recently took the Ajax plunge (using it to solve real-world usability/interface/server load problems) and am excited about web development again.
