I have the same problem with comment spam. Even turning off direct posting of comments hasn’t stopped the creep. Yes, it’s the same person, with the same automated system. I guess I should get ready for trackback spam soon 🙁

If you are using wordpress, I recommend Spam Karma. It works for me. No comment spam anymore.
